This Civilization 6 Cheat Engine Tutorial demonstrates how to use cheats to get unlimited money, science, culture, units, and more.
Can you Cheat in Civilization 6?
For those wondering, Civilization 6 (Civ 6, for short) can be hacked using two primary methods:
Console Commands
The standard and built-in method is using console commands; the upside of this method is that it only takes a few seconds to set up, and you’re good to go!
Debug Menu
The place where console commands can be entered is commonly referred to as the debug menu. To be able to use the debug menu is infinitely times more difficult than in other strategy games such as Stellaris. Follow these steps:
- Navigate to C:\Users\Intel\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier’s Civilization VI.
- Open AppOptions.txt.
- Replace ‘EnableDebugMenu 0’ with ‘EnableDebugMenu 1’.
- Launch the game.
- Access Debug Menu by pressing ` (the Tilda key).
- Debug Menu appears top-left.
Cheat Engine
On the other hand, more experienced and hard-set players opt for a tool called Cheat Engine (which will be the subject of this guide). You may have heard of it before; this tool is a type of software that can be used on a game so that it can be modded. Not ‘modded’ in the sense of adding new features, but modded in the sense that you can change ANY value within the game. For example, you can change your science from +10 per turn to +9,999,999,999 per turn.
The following section will explain how to use Cheat Engine in Civilization 6…
How to Use Cheat Engine in Civ 6
When using Cheat Engine in any given game, there are really two approaches you can take: (1) using trainers aka cheat tables, or (2) doing everything manually. Both camps have pros and cons; however, regarding Civilization 6, cheat tables are the way to go—put simply, everything will already be programmed on your behalf instead of having to do it yourself.
For the sake of time, we will be explaining how to cheat Civilization 6 using trainers or cheat tables. In the end, this won’t matter to the average Joe, but I had to put this out there so that the more experienced cheaters don’t yell at me in the comments to tell me I left something out.
However, we also included how to use the ‘Exact Match Method’, as we like to call it, later down in this article.
With that being said, let’s jump into the guide!
Follow these steps to mod Civilization VI with Cheat Engine:
Method 1 (Civilization 6 Cheat Table)
- Step 1: Civ 6 Trainer Download
- Step 2: Open Civilization 6 and Cheat Engine
- Step 3: Drag the Trainer Into Cheat Engine
- Step 4: Enable the Cheats
Method 2 (No Cheat Table. ‘Exact Value’ Method)
How to Use the Civilization 6 Cheat Engine Table
The first of the two methods is using a cheat table. Like we mentioned above, downloading and importing trainers is very straightforward. In the following section, we explain how to safely download the Civ 6 Cheat Table and then use it in-game!
Step 1: Civ 6 Trainer Download
To begin, you must navigate to this website. Scroll down past the general information until you find the ‘Attachments’ section. Under which will be a long list of versions. Refer to the image ‘Civ 6 Trainer Location‘ below to know what to look for.

We suggest downloading the top-most version, as it will likely be the most up-to-date.
Don’t forget to remember where you downloaded it! – it will come in handy later.
Step 2: Open Civilization 6 and Cheat Engine
Next, open both Cheat Engine and Civilization 6.
- In Civilization 6, open an existing save file.
- In Cheat Engine, select Civilization from the process list (it will be called something like civilization-6.exe). For beginners, refer to ‘PC Button (Open Process List)‘ to learn how to open the process list.
Step 3: Drag the Trainer Into Cheat Engine
Next, drag the cheat table from Step 1 into the large box at the bottom of Cheat Engine – this box hasn’t officially got a name, so it may be confusing to describe without you getting confused. Refer to ‘How to Use Cheat Table‘ below for a depiction of what you should do.

Step 4: Enable the Cheats
Once imported, an extensive list of cheats will become available. And YES, it was that easy! You can toggle them at your own discretion and whenever you feel like it!
How to Use Cheat Engine on Civilization 6
The second of the two methods can be done without using the assistance of a cheat table. We cover how to use vanilla Cheat Engine with Civilization VI below…
Step 1: Create a New Save Game

Firstly, you’ll need to start a single-player game in Civilization 6. The values you use will change depending on the game settings. Prince difficulty is the normal difficulty setting, and it’s recommended that you keep the game speed and map size on standard to keep things simple.
Once you’ve created your game, found your city and received your starting gold, you can begin the process of using Cheat Engine.
Step 2: Setup Cheat Engine
To use Cheat Engine, you’ll need to download and install it. With that complete, then open your process list and click on Civilization 6.
Refer to ‘PC Button (Open Process List)‘ below, which depicts how to open the process list as well as select an application.

Step 3: Change Scan Type to ‘Value Between’
Next, take your starting gold and multiply it by 200 and 300 to get your range. For example, if you start with 10 gold, your range would be 2000-3000. You’ll then use the scan type ‘value between’ and input your two values into Cheat Engine. Run the first scan and wait for the results.

Note: If the first scan doesn’t work, adjust your range and try again until you find the correct value.
Step 4: Change Value [to Get Unlimited Gold + Resources]
Once you’ve found the correct value, change it to your desired amount, such as 99999, and freeze it. This will give you unlimited gold, which you can use to purchase anything you need in the game.
Conclusion
In conclusion, using Cheat Engine is 100% a great way to get unlimited gold in Civilization 6. Although this guide didn’t use a Cheat Engine Table like many other games, such as when cheating in Dying Light 2.
Civilization 6 currently has no anti-cheat system in place, meaning you cannot get banned for cheating. In singleplayer, you’re free to cheat as much as you like! On the other hand, cheating in multiplayer (although it won’t get you banned) will cause issues, as you will not be able to sync with the host.
When players refer to the ‘money cheat’ in Civilization 6, they are referring to a method players use to get unlimited gold. They do this with the help of a tool called Cheat Engine. Using this software, players can scan for Exact Values (such as how much gold they have) and change it to anything they want.
